Egg Donation
Egg donation is a useful process to allow women to carry and deliver a child when they have not been able to conceive using their own eggs. A donor, who is either anonymous or someone you know, undergoes medical treatment to provide multiple eggs which are then removed from her body. These eggs are fertilized by your partner’s sperm in the laboratory and the resulting embryos are transferred into you uterus. You are the biological mother and your partner is the genetic father. You will need to consider several factors with this procedure. Each fertility clinic has their own egg donation program and there are questions to ask yourself such as, the age of the donor and when to disclose identifying information to your child.
